How can we help you?
Will Key Light slow down my computer if I index thousands of assets?
No. Key Light is designed to work efficiently even with massive libraries. Indexing uses processor threads that are not currently in use, minimizing the impact on your system’s overall performance. Learn Key Light
Do I need an internet connection to use the application?
After the initial activation, the application works primarily offline. An internet connection is required once during activation, and periodically every few days to verify your license status. If you are temporarily offline, the application will continue to work normally for up to 2 days.
An internet connection is also required for specific features such as changing your password. Learn Key Light
What happens if my files are stored on a NAS or network server?
For the best possible performance, we recommend storing your libraries on a local server or high-speed internal drives.
If your assets are stored on a NAS or shared server, we strongly recommend using a high-speed network to avoid bottlenecks and ensure a smooth indexing and browsing experience. Learn Key Light
Does the software copy or move my files to another location?
No. Key Light never automatically modifies, moves, or copies your files. Your assets always remain intact in their original location.
The only exception is the Echo module, which can rename files only if you manually choose to perform a batch renaming operation. Outside of that scenario, Key Light does not alter your files in any way. Learn Key Light
Which versions of 3ds Max, C4D, Maya, SketchUp, and other DCCs are supported?
The application supports all versions of the listed DCC applications.
For 3ds Max users, we strongly recommend installing the Key Light Max plugin, available in the Freebies section, for faster and more advanced integration with the Key Light workflow. Learn Key Light
What happens if I change the location of my assets (Missing Files)?

I found a bug. What should I do?
Please go to your hard drive, usually the C drive (C:\Program Files\Key Light) or the location where you installed the application. There you will find a file named Logs. Send us that file along with a brief description of what you were doing when the issue occurred. You can also include screenshots to help our engineers resolve the problem more quickly. Learn Key Light
What happens to my data if I uninstall the application?
Your original files (models, textures, etc.) are never affected. Key Light only removes its local database and temporary cache files. Learn Key Light
Is my project information or file path data sent to your servers?
We respect your privacy and the confidentiality of your projects (NDAs). Key Light does not collect information about your file names or folder structures. Learn Key Light

This allows you to verify performance, indexing speed on your specific storage systems, and seamless bridge integration with your 3D software (3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.).
How many machines can I activate with a single license?
Can the Studio License be used on multiple PCs simultaneously?
